They originate remote villages Castiglione and Rocca d’Orcia, tied their fate to two forts:the one in Castiglione, Aldobrandeschi, was overshadowed by the close of Tentennanoat Rocca, the dominant path along the valley of the Via Francigena d’Orcia. Roccad’Orcia is dominated by the huge amount of strength from its present capacity of Siena(1250-58), who struggles to have lit acres possession. A Castiglione, not far from the enchanting triangular square dedicated to the versatile artist Lorenzo di Pietro, known as Vecchietta we expect the churches of S. Maria Maddalena and that of Sts Stefano e Degna, Simone Martini and Pietro Lorenzetti where they left the language of Sienese painting in two panels by the same subject, the Madonna ed il Bambino.
