It speaks of a fiery past the spectacular fortified village built by the Sienese beginning of the thirteenth century, famous for the crown walls whose profile is defined by 15 towers(each 15 m high, but originally much higher: the advent of firearms was necessary to firetheir partial amputation). They were a defensive trick, then, the ”charcoal”, a wide ditchfull of coal that was burned in an attack. The center of the country, which has only 42inhabitants, is in Piazza Roma with the Romanesque and Gothic church of St. MariaAssunta.
